...but this is the least of my concerns at the mo, because Ondoy - that is, the epic tropical storm that hit the country this past weekend, internationally named Ketsana - left a big, awful mess of Metro Manila and the province of Rizal, and I have to say - this is kind of worse than September 2006's Milenyo, and apparently, is the worst flooding in the region in more than four decades. D: I only really got to realize the weight of its coming last night when I was watching the news and saw the clips of the floods in Pasig, Marikina, Rizal, etc. Heck, I saw pictures of Katipunan, and that was already bad enough. D: The death toll's reached 100, and hundreds of other people have been left with heavily damaged homes and limited supplies of food and water.

Fellow Pinoys:

Red Cross is accepting donations for rescue and relief via SMS: text RED<space>AMOUNT to 2899 for Globe or 4483 for Smart subscribers.

7-Eleven helps mobilize relief efforts for Ondoy casualties: 7-Eleven,in coordination with the NDCC and DSWD,is calling on the Filipino public to begin relief efforts. The management is now opening all 7-Eleven branches to serve as dropoff points for relief supplies such as ready to eat goods, mats, mosquito nets and water jugs. This is on top of their own food donation.

Other relief/donation centers and emergency hotlines are listed at http://bit.ly/Pwwhw.

People in the South area:

Arki people:
For Arki, the ASC's asking for donations: canned goods, ready-to-eat food, drinking water, clothes, appliances. For UP, the USC's also looking for donations, just drop by Vinzon's.

Ohhhh, Ondoy, why?
To think that they're expecting Piping, another storm, to arrive this Wednesday. D:
It's really nice and heartwarming to see a lot of people helping out, though. The canned goods, bread and bottled water sections in the grocery were all wiped out, and a lot of people were buying all of them, presumably, for the typhoon victims. [info]les_ineffable and I bought 30 bottles of water earlier tonight to donate tomorrow. Hopefully, we'll be volunteering the whole morning. Indeed, let's put aside academics for the time being and help out!

(And before I forget, thanks to [info]supersista and your family for letting me, Cel, [info]weggie , [info]cheesydips , Diana, Lloyd, Brian, Pepe, Millie and Gino stay the night last Saturday. It was fun being refugees in your house. Soooo sorry for the hassle and thank you sooooo much for entertaining us! Your house provided safety and warmth from the awful, awful weather. It's all about denial, anger, depression, bargaining and acceptance. A friend ignomeong who knows timong knows. Haaaaaaaaaahahahaha.)

I hope everyone's safe!

And just for a bit of happiness injected into this post, here's Hayden Christensen's Lacoste commercial. He looks mmmmajshfdhs; divine.
